Terms of use

What the platform does, what it refuses to do, and what each side is responsible for.

Everything described below is how the platform actually behaves, and each rule here is enforced by the system rather than only stated. What is still with legal counsel is the formal instrument itself, the name of the operating legal entity and the governing law. Those are marked where they appear rather than invented.

1.In short

WorkExp connects people building early-career experience with organizations that have real work to be done, and records what was agreed and what was delivered.

There are two account types and only two: Candidate and Organization.
We are not your employer, not an employment agency, and not a party to the agreement you make with the other side.
Money moves in exactly two ways, and only one of them involves us: a Gold subscription paid to the platform, and project expenses agreed directly between the two parties. We hold no project funds at any point.
Gold is a subscription. It is not verification, and it is not the Supporting Organization badge. Neither of those can be bought.
A certificate records a completed project confirmed by both sides. It is not a degree, a licence, or accreditation by any authority.
An Experience Project pays no professional fee, and says so on the card before you apply. Dressing paid work up as unpaid experience is grounds for suspension.

2.The agreement between us

Creating an account, or using the platform without one, means accepting these terms. If you use the platform on behalf of an organization, you are confirming that you may bind it.

WorkExp is operated by its founder as an individual; Gold subscriptions are sold by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record, so your purchase contract for a subscription is with Lemon Squeezy. The registered address, governing law and forum for disputes will appear in this section once settled with counsel; until then this document describes the operating rules of the platform.

3.Accounts

You must be 18 or older to hold an account. We do not ask for a date of birth and do not verify age, so this is a rule you agree to rather than a check we run — but an account we learn belongs to someone under 18 is closed.
One person, one Candidate account. An Organization account is held by the organization, operated by people it authorises.
What you put on your profile must be true. Claiming a qualification you do not hold, or an organization you do not represent, is the one thing this platform exists to make impossible.
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details to yourself. Tell us immediately if you think someone else has them.
Signing in with Google or LinkedIn links that account to your WorkExp account. It does not give the provider any access to what you do here.
You can delete your account yourself at any time. What that does, and what survives it, is set out in the privacy notice.

4.Candidates and Organizations

Candidate and Organization are the only public role names on this platform, deliberately. Nobody here is described as cheap, junior, or a beginner, and no feature ranks people that way.

A Candidate builds a profile, verifies credentials, applies to projects, does the work and receives a certificate when it is confirmed. An Organization publishes projects, selects a participant, agrees the terms, reviews what is delivered and confirms completion.

Either party may invite a Supervisor to a project: someone who follows progress and decisions and can read the project conversation, including the files attached to its messages. A Supervisor never opens a delivered work file, the evidence attached to an expense request or a credential document, can write nothing to the project, and decides nothing about money.

5.What WorkExp is not

Not an employer. Nothing on this platform creates an employment relationship between you and us, or between you and the other party unless you separately make one.
Not an employment agency, and not a recruiter acting for either side.
Not a party to your project agreement. We record it, we keep it readable, and we do not sign it.
Not a guarantor. We do not guarantee that a project will be completed, that work will be of any standard, that an organization will behave well, or that anyone will be paid.
Not a payment service. We never hold, transfer, escrow or release project funds, and there is no wallet or payout on this platform.

6.Projects and agreements

Every project states its compensation type before anyone can apply to it: an Experience Project pays no professional fee, a Paid Project does. There is no unstated case, because nobody should discover that a project pays nothing after applying to it.

Separately, a project may support expenses. Supporting expenses is never compensation, and an Experience Project that reimburses a camera rental is still an Experience Project.

Before work begins, both sides accept a written agreement generated from that project's real terms — scope, deliverables, timeline, confidentiality and what may later be shown in a portfolio. Each acceptance is recorded with its actor and its time.

After acceptance the Organization cannot quietly widen the work. A material change goes through a scope-change request that snapshots the previous scope beside the proposed one and needs the Candidate's acceptance. The original terms stay readable either way.

Publishing a Paid Project requires a Gold Organization account, and applying to one requires a Gold Candidate account. Both checks run on the server. Free accounts can find, open and read Paid Projects in full, and are told plainly why they cannot apply.

7.Payments — the two forms, and no others

Money on this platform moves in exactly two ways. They are kept separate in the interface, in the records and in this document, because conflating them is how an unpaid project starts to look like paid work.

1. Gold subscriptions — between you and the platform

A Gold subscription is the only money WorkExp itself charges. It buys access and scale: Paid Projects, project starts beyond the free monthly limit, priority visibility, and an experience without advertising.

Gold buys nothing that would make a paying account look more trustworthy. Verification applies the same standard to everyone and cannot be bought or accelerated. Certificates are never behind a subscription. Disputes are never prioritised by plan. The Supporting Organization badge is granted by an administrator on real impact, is revocable, and is not for sale.

The complete core of the platform stays free: a profile, credential verification, Experience Projects, agreements, the workspace and messaging, deliverables and revisions, Supervisors, expense requests, reviews, portfolio, certificates, support and disputes.

Prices are shown in US dollars on the Pricing page and at checkout, with the Saudi-riyal equivalent as a guide. Billing, receipts, taxes and refunds are handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record; see the billing section below and the Refund Policy.

Billing, renewals, cancellation and refunds

Gold is sold as a recurring subscription, monthly or yearly, through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record: the sale is made by Lemon Squeezy, which collects payment, issues the receipt and invoice, applies any tax due in your country and handles refunds under this document and its own terms.

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the price shown when you subscribed, unless you cancel first. Where a free trial is offered, a payment method is taken at the start and the first charge is made when the trial ends, unless you cancel before then.

You can cancel at any time from your subscription page or the billing portal. Cancelling stops future renewals; Gold continues until the end of the period already paid for, and your account then returns to Free with nothing else lost.

If a renewal payment fails, Gold continues for a short grace period while the payment is retried and you are asked to update your card. If it still cannot be collected, the subscription ends and the account returns to Free.

Refunds follow the Refund Policy: a full refund within 14 days of the first payment where Gold features were not used, no refunds of renewal payments, and refunds are issued by Lemon Squeezy to the original payment method. Refund Policy

2. Project expenses — between the two parties

When a project needs materials, equipment rental, transport, a location, printing, a software licence or a third-party service, the Candidate raises an expense request in the project's own conversation rather than asking for it informally.

The request is itemised: what is needed and why, the value of one of it, how many are needed, the category, and a detailed description. The total is the platform's own multiplication of the value by the count and is never a figure typed in, so an Organization can check “3 × SAR 200” against the quotation instead of taking SAR 600 on trust. Quotations, receipts and other supporting documents can be attached as evidence.

The Organization for that project — and only that Organization — approves it, rejects it, or asks for changes, and a refusal or a request for changes cannot be sent without a written reason. The Candidate can revise and resubmit, restating what is needed and why. Neither side's reasons are hidden from the other, and both are kept in the request's own history.

The agreed path is recorded end to end: raised, decided, recorded as paid by the Organization, and confirmed as received by the Candidate. Every step is written to an append-only history with who did it and when, and a revision keeps the previous values beside the new ones — so a disagreement can be reconstructed rather than argued from memory.

Expense requests are available to Free and Gold accounts equally, on Experience Projects and Paid Projects alike. Approving expenses never turns an Experience Project into a Paid Project.

An expense request is reimbursement for money spent doing the work. It is not a professional fee. A request whose size or wording suggests a fee in disguise is flagged for administrative attention — nothing is blocked automatically, nobody is accused, and neither party is told.

The platform does not hold, transfer, escrow or guarantee any of this money. What it holds is the record of what was requested, what was decided, by whom, and when. Payment itself is arranged directly between the two parties.

Neither of these is

There is no escrow, no wallet, no payout and no platform fee on project money. The platform takes no percentage of anything either party pays the other.
For a Paid Project, the fee is arranged directly between the Organization and the Candidate. The platform records where the parties say they have got to — agreed, sent, received, disputed — as a shared record, not as a settlement guarantee.
Tax, invoicing and any classification of the working relationship are matters for the two parties and their own advisers. We are not able to advise on them.

8.Credentials, verification and certificates

A credential you submit is reviewed by a person against the same standard applied to everyone. A review can be approved, rejected with a stated public reason, or returned with a request for more information you can answer and resubmit.

Submitting a document that is not yours, or that has been altered, is grounds for immediate suspension of the account.

A certificate records that a specific project was completed and confirmed by both parties. It is not employment, a degree or a professional licence, and it carries no accreditation from any government or educational authority.

A certificate is fixed at the moment it is issued. It shows the names, dates and skills as they stood then, and nothing that changes afterwards — including an account being deleted — alters a certificate already in someone's hands. Anyone holding the number can verify it.

A certificate can be revoked if the project it records turns out not to have happened as recorded. Revocation is visible on the verification page; certificates are not quietly deleted.

9.Your content

What you write, upload and create stays yours. We do not claim ownership of it.

You give us the permission we need to operate the platform with it — to store it, to show it to the people your own settings and your project's agreement allow, and to keep the records described in the privacy notice. Nothing more, and nothing for advertising or model training.

When you publish a work sample we ask you to confirm that you are entitled to share it, and we record that confirmation. Work done for an organization usually belongs to that organization, and what may be shown is set in the project agreement's portfolio terms. If you are unsure, ask the organization before publishing rather than afterwards.

Do not upload anything you do not have the right to upload. If you believe something here infringes your rights, tell Support with enough detail to find it and we will act.

10.How to behave here

The rules are short because they are about honesty, not paperwork.

Be who you say you are. Misrepresenting yourself or an organization you do not represent is grounds for immediate suspension.
Do not disguise professional work as unpaid experience. This is the abuse the platform is built to prevent, and it is treated as the most serious one.
Do not use somebody else's work, credentials or identity as your own.
Do not harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone, and do not publish anything unlawful.
Do not attempt to break, probe or overload the platform, to reach data that is not yours, or to automate access to it without our agreement.
Do not take a conversation off the platform in order to escape the record of what was agreed.

Projects are reviewed before publication, and anything reported receives human review.

11.Suspension, and how to answer it

An account can be suspended or a project removed when these terms are broken. A suspension takes effect immediately and ends every open session, rather than waiting for the next sign-in.

Where we suspend an organization's verified standing or remove a project, we tell you what happened and on what basis. If an individual account is blocked from signing in, the sign-in form says only that the details are wrong — write to Support and we will explain. An administrator's decision is recorded with their identity and time, so a decision about you can be reviewed rather than only asserted.

A verification status can be withdrawn if the basis for it falls away. Verification is never permanent by virtue of having once been granted.

12.The platform itself

The WorkExp name, mark and the software behind this site are ours. Using the platform gives you no right to them beyond using the service as it is offered.

We may change, add or withdraw features. When we withdraw something people depend on, we say so rather than letting it quietly stop working.

The platform is offered as it is. We work to keep it available and correct, and we do not promise it will never be unavailable or never contain an error. Where the law allows us to limit our liability, we do; where it does not, we do not attempt to.

13.When something goes wrong between two parties

A dispute can be opened on a project. What was agreed, what was delivered, what was requested and what was decided are all recorded, so a dispute is examined against a record rather than against two recollections.

We can review that record, act on our own platform — suspend, remove, revoke — and say what we found. We cannot award money, enforce a contract between the two parties, or act as a court.

The governing law and the forum for any dispute with the platform itself are part of the legal review that is not finished, and will be stated in this section.

14.Changes to these terms

When the rules change, this document changes with it and the review date at the top moves. A change that materially affects you will be told to you rather than left to be discovered. Continuing to use the platform after a change means accepting it; if you do not, you can delete your account.
